The Ningo Red Hot Chili Pepper Company is a community development initiative in the Ningo region of Ghana.
These chili peppers, called "kwadaa yewi" (quada yah-we) are highly prized in West Africa for their medicinal properties, and appreciated by epicureans around the world. They are praised by our farmers for their drought resistance, which is important in Ningo where farmers rely solely on seasonal rainfall to grow their crops.
These dried and ground peppers are full-flavored and aromatic, giving dishes a sweet and subtly spicy flavor. Cook with, or sprinkle them on sauces, soups, meat and vegetarian dishes, and use to flavor oils and vinegars.
