Brief text on the rear of the cards explains the mission of Cards from Africa and Trade as One.

These cards start out as scrap paper that is pulped and recycled from discarded office waste that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

These cards are made by orphaned young adults in Rwanda who have been directly affected by the traumas of genocide and HIV/AIDS. Making and selling these cards provides income and hope, giving them the means to rebuild their lives.
